SOMA Trauma Healing Center ("SOMA," "we," "us") is a self-pay, out-of-network practice. Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance an estimate of expected charges, called a Good Faith Estimate. This page explains that right and how to request your estimate.
You Have the Right to a Good Faith Estimate
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services. This includes related costs such as sessions, assessments, and any other items in your treatment plan.
- You can ask SOMA, or any provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. We will give you the estimate in writing.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
What Your Estimate Includes
Your estimate reflects the expected cost of care based on the type of service, the length of each session, and the services in your treatment plan. Because therapy is ongoing and each person's needs are different, the estimate covers a defined period of care and may be updated over time. A Good Faith Estimate is only an estimate, not a bill or a contract. Your actual cost may be lower or higher depending on the care you and your clinician decide on together.
If Your Bill Is Higher Than Your Estimate
If you are billed for at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill through the federal Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution process. You must start the dispute within 120 calendar days of the date on your bill. There is a small fee to use the process. If the dispute finds in your favor, you will pay the lower amount.
Starting a dispute will not affect the quality of care you receive from SOMA.
How to Request a Good Faith Estimate
You can request a Good Faith Estimate at any time, and you will automatically receive one when you schedule care. If you schedule a service at least three business days in advance, we will provide your estimate within one business day. If you schedule at least ten business days in advance, we will provide it within three business days. To request an estimate, contact us using the information below.
